First 5 miles is nice Superior desert-type terrain, then a riparian area for 3 miles to an eastern Supes terrain for 2.5 miles We went past the shot-up AZT Reavis Canyon TH trailsign to an interesting circular corral. On our way back, we talked with gpsjoe. He saw that we were doing this hike and set up a hike with his friend to hike this whole section of the AZT from Picketpost to Rogers Trough TH.
Would I do this stretch again? I am glad I did this hike - I'm feeling very good tonight. But a lot of mileage & effort for the reward. Some subtle rewards but no overwhelming WOW moments on this hike. Not a glamor/popular hike. I am more likely to finish this stretch of the AZT up Reavis Canyon to Rogers Trough before I hike this stretch again. To log this as a completed section of the AZT, I would hike this hike again - but as a shuttle hike like GPSJoe was hiking it. |
