| no partners | | | Thursday morning we drove into the Goldfields at Blue Point trail head. A few miles in, we left our truck and walked the road another half mile and walked into a canyon that we had seen cairned on a previous visit. The cairns failed to lead us anywhere, but we saw a slot we thought might get us to the top, so moved toward it. Wild horsed were spotted ahead and they seemed curious about us. We got within a couple hundred yards from them before they decided to move from the area. The slot was too steep for us so we moved around the base of the vertical rocks to the south until we found another area to traverse. We came out at the point north of Dome Mountain where the camoflaged tanks are located. We moved above the tanks to a saddle that would take us to the ridge that leads to Panorama peak. After taking in the Peak views, we moved to the northwest to find the slot that would drop us to the area where our truck was parked. A fun and sometimes challenging hike that all seven hikers enjoyed. |
