I haven't done a lot of hiking lately and hadn't spent a night away from the old casa since late November, so the walls were sort of closing in a bit. I spotted this interesting looking hike offered by the Las Cruces hiking meetup group, so decided it would allow me to get in a quick road trip and see something different.  Glad I joined them for this one that took us by an old manganese mine and up to a cool arch.
I drove over to Deming the day before, spent the night at a motel, then met the group in the morning as they drove over for the hike. This was a total bushwhack with some scrambling, which made it even better. Following the hike we stopped at a funky local watering hole for food and rehydration, then I bid them farewell and headed back to Tucson. |
