As mentioned on HAZ previously, the Arizona Trail Association assisted the Tonto National Forest in securing a grant to rehab the trail between McFarland Canyon and Mt Peeley TH. This long-suffering area received little trail attention prior to the 2012 fire, and the fire and resultant erosion has hit it hard. The new route will include the West Fork and Cornucopia; both will receive major reworking. ~3,500 feet of the West Fork will be on new, contour realignment. About half of the Cornucopia south of Thicket Spring is on very old road bench; this will be made into single track trail. South of the old road bench some of the trail will remain in the wash bottom but Wednesday we scouted the area and found several "remnants" on the side of the wash, and these will be restored.

Part of the project is to restore the trail signage. Records as to what signs existed prior to the fire are scant or not accessible. Thus we have "harvested" (largely from HAZ) photos for most of the pre-fire signs, but need a couple more. We need pictures of whatever there was at the Thicket Spring junction, and what exists today at the Saddle Mountain/Sheep Creek junction. I suspect the latter sign burned but don't have confirmation and don't want to make new ones if the old one is still there and in decent shape. See the linked photos for specifics.

So photogs, whaddayagot?

Thanks!
