| no partners | | So, this trip was off to a pretty rad start before I had even set foot on trail. I got an early hours photo of the Milky Way upon arrival to the Peralta TH. I knew the was a reason I'd brought my tripod.
So, the trail. Dutchman 104 out to Miners Needle. No major elevation losses or gains. Pretty basic stuff. After the Needle a quick climb up to the saddle, again really the only elevation gain at this point. Here at the saddle, continue on the 104. The downhill keeps the pace swift. Tall grass on either side the trail. A perfect place for a snake to lay waiting for me..
Soon enough the Terrapin and Bluff Springs intersection came along. But not before I'd had a chance to meet a new friend sunning himself on a berm along the trail. Yep. Gotta love snakes. Giving a warning rattle when you're 2 feet from them. And they're at shoulder level. He wound up being pretty polite after all. Didn't take too much of his time snapping some photos. A quick dash down the trail and over before I knew it. Great trip. Loads of epic scenic views. Very Minor route finding. Very well cairned route pretty much the whole way through. Fun trip, low stress, easy mileage. |
