| partners | | JohnLP and I had decided to make the Miners Needle loop and take a shot and getting inside the Needles eye. He said he and Kelly took a stab at it before and got within 50 feet. Today we went up and took in the surrounding views. Just over the saddle up top was a bee hive and a guard bee came after me with a vengeance. Luckily I didn't get stung. After this fun excursion it was time to try and thread the needle. Up we went and then traversed out on a ledge. I would say we were within 15 to 20 feet of being inside the actual eye of the needle.
I can tell you that I fully believe it is possible to do but requires cheating death not once but twice. A climber with gear would have no issue whatsoever. Without gear it is just too risky for me. One slip and it's game over.
I would be very curious if anyone knows if it has been accomplished by anyone free solo? Again I am certain it can be done. Just not by me. At least not today. |
