Hiked the Elephant Mtn loop in Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area with new hiking friend, Jim. It was a beautiful sunny day with a nice breeze to keep us cool. Ran into park ranger Kevin Smith in the parking lot and got his permission to visit the fortress ruins on top of the bluff on the east end of Elephant Mtn. This area is marked as a "Closed Area" and normally can only be visited when accompanied by a ranger or park volunteer. So we got to checkout the ancient rock walls of the cliff top Indian fortress as well as see my first rattle snake and first blooming Saguaro cactus of the spring. It was a good day.
