The trail starts at a small park tucked away in a neighborhood, and follows the Moanalua stream up the Kamananui Valley. There are several informative signs along the way, which are always fun! We passed some old brick stairs and a chimney that were once part of someone's home (one heck of a place to live!), a rock covered with petroglyphs (one of them is unique to Kamananui Valley-- it's only one of two!), 7 bridges over the (dry) stream, a group of boar hunters (and their tired, lovable dogs), and some Hawaiians gathering a specific type of leaf to make leis out of. There was another trail that branched off of this one; I'm sure we'll be back to explore it! |
