| no partners | | This was a bushwhack across country and up the middle one of the Three Sisters. After beating through the brush and up the elk trails to the top I was pretty tired, so I looped back around further south, along an enormous cow pasture, and past Gonzalez Mudhole (a "lake"), where I had nice views of Bill Williams Mountain and I-40, and some cows, too.
The views from the top were fantastic! Worth the effort, I thought.
I wore my new shoes, (Altra Superior Zero Drop 2.0) which worked well. I never had the feeling of burning front pads and toes. (If you aren't familiar with me, just know my feet are generally impossible to fit, and I have been whining about it for about a year.)
I looked for the benchmark "Sister" that is supposed to be on the top, but I couldn't find it. I did find the old trail register in a jar, and signed it. Not a lot of names. It was one of those that had been placed by the Sierra Club Desert Peaks Section out of L.A.
From the summit I saw a lot of other knolls, peaks and hills I'd like to climb. |
