Hiked out to Shoshone Point as part of our otherwise "car" tour of the eastern half of GC National Park. Loved the relative solitude here, despite the fact that the park in general was packed with masses of tourists. The path to this point is not marked on the maps they give out at the entrance, nor is there signage at the trailhead, so it's a great way to "get away" from the crowds. The views were fantastic and the forest stroll to get there and back was enjoyable as well. The one other group who joined us on the point while we were there saw a couple of huge bull elk on the hike in. We didn't see them on the way out (darn!), but still enjoyed this more "hidden" gem of the canyon.
