Pulled invasive plants around GC Village, alongside NPS/vegetation staff. Day one we pulled Jointed Goatgrass, Rush Skeletonweed, and Russian Thistle. Day 2 was Bull Thistle, tons of Common Mullein, Horehound, Mediterranean Sage, and Goat's Beard (Tragopogon Dubius - I just like the name). I also found out there's an apple tree in the village. You've probably passed it many times. It's invasive but we let it live... for now. There's also Catnip growing near Maswik but we didn't get to it. After work we got a tour of the park's plant nursery. There they grow most of the common plants found above and below the rim and use them for revegetation areas, new construction, the Orphan Mine, road re-alignments, etc.. All the water used at the nursery is reclaimed sewage. The sewage plant and the nursery are in the same complex.
