| no partners | | I started at the junction of FR 139 and Barbershop Trail, at about 7:15am. I took Barbershop Trail to U-Bar Trail to Houston Brothers Trail, and ended up back at the Barbershop trailhead at about 4pm.
Along the way, I passed both the Dane Cabin and the Pinchot Cabin.
The trail is somewhat difficult to follow in places, especially where there are road crossings. I recommend using gps. Fortunately, all of gpsjoe's great tracks for this area are available on this site.
18.5 miles is quite a ways for me, so I'd say it was hard. However, There isn't a lot of elevation gain. There are long stretches of flat ground. The hardest parts are where the U-Bar dips in and out of Dane Canyon and Barbershop Canyon.
Great place to escape the Phoenix furnace. |
