Once past the McFadden Horse Mountain, we started getting glimpses of the Cherry Creek valley area below.
We passed one area with a very recent burn.
Ray does a snake dance, exposing a 5' Gopher snake. We watched it wrap around a log and go inside of it.
We reached the end of the line with great views of the area and of the west side of Elephant Rock.

The original plan was to attempt to do a loop that took us to the the east side of Elephant Rock and the Arch. To me it didn't look like it was going to work out and if it didn't work out, we probably would not have time to do the second out and back that got us there for sure.
On the way back down, the temps warmed up enough to give us some concern for the feasibility of the next hike.
Enjoyable and recommended hike! |
