| no partners | | On the way to a backpacking trip at Havasupai I decided to really "do" Grand Canyon Caverns. After all these years I had never camped there or been into the caverns, although I had eaten in the restaurant. It turned out to be a lot of fun. Friendly staff, good food, nice campsite, and quiet atmosphere.
The only thing is, the freight trains at night are fairly close by--I'd say within a half a mile, and there is a crossing. Woo WOO! Lots of freight trains...
It didn't bother me at all once I had fallen asleep, however.
The caverns tour is fun, but don't expect a whole lot of stalagmites and stalactites. I also enjoyed wandering around there and looking at stuff, and talking to the staff. |
