| no partners | | I hadn't hiked this trail in a few years, and I was surprised I liked it better than last time. It was also steeper than I remembered it. I have been accessing BW Mtn. via the Benham Trail which is a bit easier.
Lots of old growth forest--enormous Doug firs. Not as many flowers as the Benham Trail has right now (I hiked it on Tuesday).
On Bill Williams Mountain it's always a bit of a let-down when the trail ends and you have to reach the summit (and its "microwave forest") via a dirt road. I'm looking forward to the day when technology outgrows the need for these communication towers, and they can be removed. It will happen eventually, I think. I like cell phones, internet, radio and other modern communications as much as anyone. But I think we as a society should be urging the development of new means of sending the signals, rather than cluttering up our lovely mountaintops. |
