Of course, I can't justify driving that road without actually doing a hike, so I headed up for an afternoon trip to the summit of Browns. There were three cars in the lot when I started, and I had passed all three groups before the saddle, leaving the whole place to myself for the rest of the day.
It was in the low 80s to start, but there was a great breeze, and the afternoon provided enough shade to make the trip quite pleasant.
Not wanting to hike down in the dark hours after sunset, I headed back to the trailhead and found a nice spot to watch the moonrise.
To be honest, I've always found lunar eclipses to be pretty boring. I like harvest moons more. So I was curious to see how the two would work together. Not bad. I wish I had a better camera. I think good moon photos require a much better zoom than I have, not to mention some experience and skill that I also don't have. Doh.
Rolled down the hill in the dark -- except for that full moon lighting the way. |
