Tried the MotherLode in May 2013 and tore my ACL within sight of Brown's Brother summit and had to hobble back to the TH defeated. After surgery tried again the same year on Dec 21st but we got snowed out. Third times the charm as we had good weather and even better cloud effects.

7am start with the clouds rolling in...Chumley said they were not of the rain variety and he was correct. The clouds made for a great show all along the Four Peaks ridgeline as we made the tough climb across. We took our time crossing and stopped for a nice break on each summit to enjoy the views and cloud show. Definitely think that the climb between peak 2 and 3 is the toughest although it may be just the way we went. Lots of vertical slabs, knife edge climbs, and crashing through brush. But eventually we all made it to Amethyst Peak and celebrated making it across...somebody brought some nougat Christmas mints
