I wanted to SEE if there was any color left since most everything is running late this year, and the recent snow was a very appealing option for me, so I decided to head up and do this loop which I had never done before. What a treat! :)

The colors were lame ... even the maples that have color are drab rather than bright. Most leaves have blown off the trees, even the green ones. There were many that had fallen since the snowfall earlier in the week. There were patches of snow down as low as 5500 feet, but only in shaded areas. As we climbed however there was snow everywhere and in the shaded areas was even still powdery! Nice flow in Christopher Creek pretty much all the way to the top.

The Crook portion of the hike across the rim was extra work in the snow, but I didn't even need my gaiters as it was never more than 6-8" deep. Really a perfect time to get up here in the snow.

I'd never hiked Drew 291 before, and that is damn near a road up top. I can't think of a nicer trail that climbs the rim. :app:

Past prime. Still some green, but colored or green, most is on the ground already.
