We went to a bunch of low level mines, long ago forgotten. You could be standing on the cat cut road, walk 15 feet, and lose it. And not because of thick brush--it's just gone.
I saw the most rattlesnakes of any trip, about 6-7 in the mine tunnels keeping the rodents under control. I got pics of most of them. It was tedious in a couple of areas because the tunnels had low ceilings so you stooped walked or all fours in places, not a great place to see snakes.
Our campsite was one of the best car camps I've had recently, in a cow pasture off a mining road, soft eaten down grass to run around on, plenty of fire wood, 360 views without man made objects, no cactus or stickers nearby. Good evening with no wind and great sitting out watching the large moon rise ( not the blood moon yet).
The continuing drive the next day was tedious I must admit, it was hot, and we did not make our goal of the special mine with the derelict mining camp nearby. We'll be back. |
