it appears on some of the south mountain maps and provides access between desert classic and guadalupe ridge
john put together a lasso loop in route manager for us, incorporating guadalupe ridge, san gabriel ridge and desert classic trails and even tried it out yesterday
met fletch at pima canyon this morning for the hike
guadalupe ridge is perhaps my favorite trail on south mountain
I've been on san gabriel ridge many times when I lived on san gabriel avenue
same for desert classic - not my favorite, but this section isn't bad and makes for a good loop option
found young man's trail pretty easily, confirmed by john's track
if you look at my track, there are two entry points off desert classic, depending on which way you're going
well-defined trail, similar to corona east, about a mile long
went back to pima on guadalupe ridge, but one could certainly return a number of different ways
good hike with my climbing partner, decent aeg for a south mountain hike, and a shorter option to the guadalupe ridge/national loop
would recommend doing this on a weekday: easier to park and a lot fewer mountain bikers on desert classic |
