| no partners | | | We took a guided tour this morning to a few of the petroglyph sites in the Spur Cross Conservation area. I found out about the tour on the Spur Cross section of the Maricopa Parks & Rec website. They do a few different hikes every month. This is led by the Ranger and takes you both on and off trail to some of the sites. The description on the website says "Moderate" for the hike, but really it is pretty easy and straight forward. Some of it is off trail though so be careful and watch out for cactus. Also wear shoes you don't mind getting a little muddy if the creek is flowing. The petroglyphs are a mix of Hohokam and Archaic. Take a real good look because some of the glyphs are very old and hard to see. Please do your best to not touch the glyphs. Over all a fun tour with good info and a chance to see some neat Rock Art that you wouldn't get to see just hiking on the trails. |
