| no partners | | 20 degrees yesterday 62 when I started today. Waldo Canyon was white yesterday and brown today. Ring the peak was bare, but quite a bit of snow on the trail up to the Esther Summit. To much snow to climb all the way to the summit. Lots of trees both on and off the trail tagged with orange paint sniff streamers. Not sure who put them there but there were tracks I'd estimate a week old as it was in they were tracks in the previous snow fall partially covered by the most recent snow. Kind of unusual as almost no one uses this trail. Hit a couple spots where the snow was up to my knees at 9200'. Probably could've managed with waterproof socks and the regular hikers with spikes, but with amount of snow yesterday have to err in favor of the toes. Not a big fan of the winter set up when it's 60 degrees. First time in Several days Pikes Peak has come out. |
