Down Aspen 93
Down Marshall Gulch 3
Up Aspen 93
Sidetrip to Marshall Peak
Down WOR 44
Up Lemmon 5
Other plans got postponed, and I was able to make a big event hike that I'd previously declined, but wasn't ready for the actual big part of it. But I did some math and figured I could make a worthwhile day out of things and still meet up with the group of hardcore crazy people.
I arrived a little bit early and subsequently had time to create some rock art, and just a few minutes before I was going to head up in an attempt to beat the setting sun, the rest of the group arrived on their climb from Romero Pass. We all enjoyed a short break before setting off on the final few miles back to the summit where our cars awaited along with a few more people and celebratory beverages. It dropped to 39 as I passed the ski area, but was back to 70 once we arrived back on the valley floor.
I love WOR, and the upper part of Lemmon #5 was new to me, and quite enjoyable. Aspen was a burned mess and not that great. Marshall Gulch was a surprising treat. Marshall Peak is an overgrown prickly mess. |
