Have you ever been to the Bear River Range? The Bear River Range is a subset of the greater Wasatch Range. On the west side of the range, the nearly 10,000ft peaks quickly drop to a basin floor that sits at around 4,500ft. The result are steep mountain slopes with a variety of different ecosystems that begin with grassy foothills on the valley floor and end with sub-alpine fir forests on top.

I grew up in this area and every time I come back I'm always amazed how spoiled I was growing up with incredible scenery in every direction, and yet you would have had to force me to go out on a hike when I lived here.

I met up with a friend for a quick hike which started in Logan Canyon. Initially I planned on doing the tried and true "Wind Caves", but my friend mentioned the "Crimson Trail" which was just across the canyon and follows the rim of a "China Wall" cliff. That sounded much more interesting to me so we decided to go for that instead.

The hike begins by climbing quickly to the rim of the cliff, about 1000ft in 1 mile. From here you hike along the "China Wall" before descending steeply back to the floor of the canyon. To finish the loop, the Crimson Trail is connected to a river walk nature trail which takes you back to the parking lot where you started.
