| no partners | | Hit this one before heading out of the park. A little more challenging than I had anticipated for a short 6 mile hike.
From May Lake we were able to follow a distinct trail for a little bit, but eventually the snowfields and multiple paths marked by cairns had us finding our own way up the mountain.
There was a huge snowfield about 150-200 yards long that had to be traversed just before the final scramble to the top. Being on the south face it was nothing very deep, though.
Just before hitting the top I got a good look over the other side of the mountain at the sheer drop off and nearly fell backwards from vertigo. Whew...
Another great yosemite hike with great 360 degree views! |
