| no partners | | Although some probably consider this to be a boring / overcrowded city hike, it sure beat the pants off sitting in PHX rush hour. Never having done Lookout Mountain before, [and just being able to hike on a day where I’d normally be walking circles around my flat, paved neighborhood], it was a real treat and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Although the mountain is on the small side, there are several prominent points, [in addition to the highpoint], along with a few ridgelines to keep me busy. And, although I had to do a few loops around to reach my mileage goal for the day, the different ‘levels’ of trails/routes kept things interesting.
There were a few times where I was unable to resist the fun of ascending one side of a prominent point and bushwhacking off the other. With super loose footing and bees abound, it wasn’t the smartest idea but luckily ended uneventfully. |
