| no partners | | I was going to do a Figure 8 of some sort; had a basic plan but improvised on part of it and ended up with two Figure Eights kinna (per Joe Bartels, per a previous participant Vaporman); translation "kind of". I ended up with one big one around Lookout and then another little one around the western humps
As I started clockwise, my quail crossed in front of me.
Going along the north side I noticed lots of new plant growth including what looked like MANY miniature Brittlebush. I took a picture so that I can see what they become. A bit later I got behind these stinky women with way too much perfume; that was just awful but I finally got to pass them.
I rounded to the south side where I had decided last week that I wanted to take that steep part by the white rock up to the saddle. I did that and it is really steep in a couple parts but short.
I headed down the north side of Lookout and when almost at the bottom I headed west to the southwestern hump, changed my mind and hiked on the east side. As I was going up some kids were thinking they were coyotes but not even close. I was just not in the mood to listen to their screaming . Came around the southern hump and into a big yellow ball but then spotted a Sundog that I tried to capture with my phone camera. I was actually glad to be hiking in the sun as it was a tad cool.
As I was getting back to the TH the real coyotes started their serenade. As you recall, last week I heard and filmed their howling. So they must be hanging in this hood to help with the pet control. |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
