| no partners | | Decided to get in a quick hike that ended up not being quite so quick but I'm not sure as I felt like I was picking up the pace . Anyway, I went clockwise starting UP to the Summit Saddle; guided a hiker on how to hit the summit but I went back down a little ways to use the trail below the summit heading east. I wanted to investigate the far reaches of the eastern side of the preserve. I ended up on what looked like to be an old trail and I took it until it petered out so I cross countried just a bit to catch the main trail.
Instead of going west on the main trail I headed south and then a little east and south by the houses over here. I've never been down in this area before. I passed by a little monolith and then some circular depressions in the ground before reaching a park at the SE corner. It's a very nice park. From there I ended UP heading north until I joined back up with the main lower part of the main trail where I circled to the west side and around and back to the TH. Quite a few hikers out this afternoon. @BobP isn't our mountain so green right now. Not much blooming other than almost every brittlebush.
Written 1-18-2019 And now off for our mish-mash Arizona Trail weekend in southern Arizona. |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
