| no partners | | My Dad and I took my 4 YO son to Chevelon Lake to introduce him to camping and Kayaking. Nice 3 generation Father's Day camping trip! The last 4 miles of FR 180 were definitely high-clearance only. As my Dad said..."Keeps the Prius crowd out of there!" Arrived at the end of FR180 and there were already folks camping at the best spot (Right on the edge of the canyon. So we made do at an adjacent spot and embarked on a great weekend filled with tents, hammocks, hikes, kayak, rock jumping and some Rye and cigars once jr. went to sleep!
Very nice local with a brown Doberman Pinscher (Tonto?) told us about the flat rock on the edge of the lake for some great swimming and jumping. Thank You! Heading back up there very soon. Might try the east side next time to get the seclusion we sought. Not sure about any trail down from the ridge on the east side though...more research needed. |
