| partners | | My knee was scream sensitive to touch on Monday. Took it out in the scorching heat on Tuesday and it felt better. jj hit Del Taco for breakfast while I had my standard pre-hike mini-cinnamon health-roll.
The hike started off in relatively cool temps compared to the valley. The lower end of See Canyon looks like it got into a fight with a chainsaw on one section. It must have been an obstacle course with downed trees over the winter. I'm thankful to all that participate in trail maintenance!
Humidity was high. Good tree cover throughout this canyon makes it a winner. A third of a mile past Nappa Spring the forest teased us. We checked our maps and continued on in glee. Five minutes later, not sweating, I asked jj, are we going in the right direction. Yep. Um, shouldn't the sun be to our right...lol 200 feet and 0.3mi back up jj found the turn.
The road walk on the rim was nice and relaxing. Heading down Promontory Trail a few phantasmagorical views opened up. It's a bit of a rollercoaster along the Highline over to Horton Spring. Roughly fifty teenage girls on a church group hike shuffled in as we arrived at the spring.
A 60% chance of rain never surface on our trip. Clouds did save the day just as it got a bit toasty hiking back.
jj introduced me to the Fargo 250 GT California Burger. A quick Houdini act and it was gone without a trace. Then he showed me Bruce's maintenance room along with a sizable todo list that awaits his arrival. |
