In front of adjective you use to describe hiking through 4 miles of aspen forest. This made up for the leaf peeping on the 67. Plus you get to climb a big Pumpkin Dome! Oh and the views from said Dome. Clockwise loop is best. I felt really sorry (for about two seconds)for the dozen or so hikers and horseback riders who were doing out and backs on the published non loop trail to Dome Rock viewpoint since they skipped the heavenly walk through the woods which is why I saw almost no one until the return despite two horse trailers and about 10 cars in the parking lot. I would not recommend this hike to anyone especially in the fall, but if you insist on the out and back keep to the use trails on the right on the way in and left on the way out to keep your feet dry and reduce the amount of horse poop you step on. If you do the clockwise loop during the right time of year you might just agree that this is the most amazing aspen hike in the universe! BTW follow the aspens up the ravine and remember crack is good if you want to make it to the top of the Dome for some of the best views this side of Pikes Peak.
Almost forgot the views from the rock.
