What a beautiful passage! Definitely in my top 3. Did this passage SOBO. We expected to find water at Bear Springs and thought that there may be water in other locations. There was!! All listed water sources had flowing water and many other locations also. Plenty of mosquitoes to go with the water too! We took our time through the long grassy sections so that we didn't surprise any snakes. Good tread and easy to follow trail all along. Ran into a guided horse trip at Bear Springs, other than that we had the trail to ourselves. Nice spattering of wildflowers all along. Enjoyed reading the interpretive mining signs along the way that explained the features and saw a modern adit also. Found a great place to camp about 2 miles north of Anaconda Springs. Just after dark we heard - I don't know what!! It was a series of very long screams / howls / ???. Could it have been a ringtail? It definitely was not any animal I have ever heard before and I know that ringtails are in the Santa Ritas. Anyhow, I commented, "There goes our food bag!" But, in the morning, our food bag was still there - YAH! Had a nice hike out along the road. Very little traffic. Saw the horse group again, a mountain biker and a couple of people who stopped to ask about the Arizona Trail. Rewarded ourselves with a treat at the bakery in Patagonia and headed home after picking up the vehicle at Gardner Canyon.
