Broke this passage into 2 nice days. On Wednesday my sister and I did from South Kaibab to the culvert at 64. We followed the well-signed trail even though the app said that we were off trail. I think the app may have hikers following the Greenway which would take you right next to Mather CG and closer to the Village. Anyhow, the trail is well signed and as you cross the road after leaving SK, it follows an old 2 track and pretty much parallels the app. We had 5 elk bedded down on the trail so went way around them and let them enjoy their space! Easy trail and good tread. The last couple miles puts you on the new Greenway. Although the AZT home page tells hikers that this portion is under construction, I contacted the Park Service prior to heading up to the Grand Canyon and was told that this project was done and the path was open. Nice, new path takes you right into Tusayan. I'm not sure why the app gives a trail head on the curve coming down to the culvert, but anyhow, we had parked at the nice trail parking lot just off of the roundabout north of Tusayan. Thursday we did from Grandview Tower to the culvert - parked at the Ranger Station that day. We heard a couple of elk bugling but didn't see any all day. This portion is virtually flat and easy so we made good time on the 16ish miles. Met one SOBO thru-hiker along the path. He indicated that he was a little confused with following the bike paths out of Tusayan. As we approached NOBO we did see one spot that could have been marked clearer, but using the app, we could tell which way was correct. Some, not all, carsonites have the AZT sticker. Some just have the bike sticker and this was what threw him off I think. Some muddy puddles along the way - not necessarily where water is indicated. Any water that could be retrieved along this passage would need to be pre-filtered. I cached 3 gallons just south of Grandview Tower labeled for AZT hiker and I was told that there was about 9 gallons at Russel Tank.

Very muddy and you would need to make your way through mud to access what water there is. Would definitely need to be pre-filtered
