Not much to say about this hike as it was simply an attempt to take the straightest and easiest route to Ocean Point above the Colorado River. Our route was, in fact, quite easy... at least as far as we got. After back-tracking six times due to cliff-outs and still not looking good we were about to hang it up.
But when we caught sight of the long final ascent that was enough to call it quits. If we had left camp at sunrise and didn't have to drive as far we probably would have continued. But realizing it may have taken three times what we had budgeted for time and another hike planned after this one, we could live with the decision to skip it. |
