| partners | | Noel asked me to plan a backpack. I felt like some water time but didn't want to venture too far for night time lows.
I remember driving the flexy FR42 a few times, camping near Devil's Hole on one of the islands on the water. We even tubed a couple times from Horseshoe to there after placing a pick-up Jeep there. I figured since the road was still in pumpkinredtapesville we should go visit the old spot.
Plan A was just to river cross a few times since it was too cold to tube the whole way. But we found the river running too quickly to cross safely at the easy cross so I knew the further down ones wouldn't be smart. So we climbed the hill at the gauge and desert ridged it over to the 42. My 3mi along the water hike became a 6mi desert one :/
I think we were about 3:45 on our hike time. We spent a couple nights there and the spot was as pretty as I remembered even though the trees were in winter mode.
Never got one bite though so that was skunky. I was over-prepared to hike out whatever I caught.
It was still a great time with Noel there.
On the drive out, my alternator gave up the ghost. We made it back to the CF highway and once it all shut down, found a good pull off spot. My brother-in-law ran us out a new one and some tools and we changed it out and got going again just fine. |
