First third is level through lots of tall grass, 2nd is up a fairly steep slope, 3rd is across a ridge to the first pillbox (didn't know about this at the time, but there is a second further up). Trail is very well groomed but the steep section would be hellacious if wet. Lots of roots. Some rope along the way to help.
Park at the Sunset Elementary School, but there is a second way up from east of there mentioned in some guidebooks.
Very popular hike, but well worth the time and effort, if you can tear yourself away from the fantastic beach along here. |
