| no partners | | At first I took the wrong way and wasn't sure where the trail was so I went back to the parking lot and found the trailhead. I suppose I should have actually read the decription. Once I found the trail I discovered it was very easy to run besides the washes which had deep sand that made your feet sink into it. When I got near the top a family was close to the saddle and I talked to them for a second then I went up the summit of Vulture Peak. Wow that climb is scary as can be. One of the sons from the family I met wizzed past me climbing up the mountain but hurt his hand so he had to turn back. The views at the top were amazing it was a very clear day and you could see for miles and miles. I was amazed when the younger son from the family I met climbed to the summit (I would say he was 11 maybe 12). I guess he wanted to show up his older brother or something. It was much scarier going down, the kid and I went down at the same time so I couldn't be more scared than the kid (although I probably was). When I got down from the scramble I talked for a minute again with the family and I jogged just about the whole way back to the car. |
