| no partners | | Went on a short hike with my daughter and her family in the north section of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Our hike started at the Granite Mountain Trailhead. The kids weren't up for a long hike so we went on a short loop hike up the Bootlegger trail to the Granite Mtn Loop Trail then back to the trailhead on the Powerline Road. My grandkids enjoy playing on the huge granite boulders sculpted in to many different shapes by erosion over the eons. A trail steward we have encountered here in the past scolded us for letting the kids go off trail on the granite boulders. But if the trail crosses the edge of the boulder, then why not and if it will get the kids out hiking I'm all for it. No overly officious trail stewards were encountered on this trek so we all had a good time.  |
