Had a lazy weekend and felt like I needed to stretch my legs so this close to town hike fit the bill.
I started at FR 543 in Round Valley and was originally going to head up to Gibson Peak via @kingsnake posted route but it was late in the day and didn't feel like two hours of night hiking.

So I climbed steeply off trail above a game tank to a little mesa at the 5500 level that boasted great views of Round Valley and glimpses in the Houston Creek/Hellsgate Wilderness area.

Nice quiet area made for a peaceful way to finish out 2017 hiking out under the last sunset of the year.
