| no partners | | I took the kids out for a hike since my wife was busy with finishing up a piano competition for the weekend. I decided to take a ride over to Papago Park and hike those trails. I was last there about 16 years ago. It was a typical urban hike, the worst part being the constant sound of traffic everywhere. The tradeoff is that it's a short drive and we were done hiking by 11am. The planes fly by pretty low to the south as they come in to land. That got us thinking about our trip to Serbia this summer, which we're all getting excited for.
We hiked the big loop around the golf course clockwise, then did two laps around the northernmost butte, hitting the upper and lower trails on the east side. Then we hiked the inner loop around the southern buttes and hiked up and back to the ramada for some extra mileage, and also since it was still only 10:30am by the time we were back at the parking lot.
The weather stayed cool all day, nice and breezy. It almost seemed like it got cooler as the day progressed. The clouds rolling in helped with that, obviously. Lots of other hikers, but it wasn't crazy crowded. Afterwards we hit Portillos at Tempe Marketplace for lunch. |
