| no partners | | Pusch Peak has been calling me so I decided to do this today. It is only 2.1 miles up and with a return, a total of 4.2 miles. You know a trail is going to be tough when the Accumulated Elevation Gain (AEG) in thousands of feet exceeds the miles. This hike has an AEG of 2652 feet with only 5 feet of drop on the way to the peak, so it is not only steep but it is continuous. The first mile gains 600 feet so the last mile does the other 2150 feet, I probably spent about half that last mile on both hands and feet. Once at the top the 360 degree views were well worth it. I can’t decide what was worse, the going up or the down both were hard on the muscles and the joints. Great hike, although I probably won’t be doing this again anytime soon.
I did not see any bighorn on this hike but then I was concentrating more on the trail than on the surrounding hillsides. There was a trickle of water in the creek below the trail near the lower waterfall. |
