| no partners | | On my second day in the Huachuca Mountains I opted to do the Miller Canyon Trail to the Crest Trail. I thought about extending this to also include Miller Peak but since I spent the last month resting my knee I didn't want to push it. I will have to do Miller Peak from the Lutz Canyon Trail on another trip. This trail is a steady uphill, the first 2 miles being moderate then the last two miles fairly steep. The trail is in good condition without major steps in the trail so it is quite manageable. There wasn't any water in Miller Canyon to speak of except for an occasional pool. At the Crest Trail Tub Spring had a trickle. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on top with a breeze that felt a little cool when you weren't hiking. Great views of Miller Peak and the mountains to the east near Tombstone. I do believe I had this whole mountain to my self, there were no cars in either the Bear Spring Trail Head or Miller Canyon Trail Head. When I finished the hike there were two cars in the lot and I think they were bird watchers. |
