| no partners | | First time up Hieroglyphic Trail, wanted to see how far I could get up toward the ridge line and Superstition Mountain.
Lots of folks on the initial trail but once I got past the pools I was completely alone all day.
Sure is a workout going up but overall not terrible and easy enough to find cairns marking the route. Felt similar to the Flatiron hike in spots. The canyon was pretty exposed since I got a late start around 11a but there were some boulders and trees along the way for shade breaks.
Turned around before I hit the ridge line. Probably could have kept going, but doing it solo I got sketched out by the steep grade and loose rock scree near the top. Also, water was running low and I hit my turnaround time. Fight another day.
I'll be back to summit! But maybe not until it cools off again. |
