McClintock to Dane to U-Bar with a lot of meandering in-between.
I was hesitant to even say where I went or if I should lie or leave out info because of how much I liked this place and perfect loop but I can’t be selfish since HAZ has been so generous to me but the exact route will still cost you extra ;)
Dane is a gem as well as this entire area, it honestly just blows me away how each and every one of these canyons has its own treasures and unique scenery to offer, truly a special part of the state.
Saw the usual 8-12 elk, a few young healthy bulls with velvet and a bounty of cows.
I obviously don’t mean to spook them but when it does occur in a narrow canyon I enjoy watching them effortlessly scurry up the steep hillsides and since I stay mellow I usually get a moment of silence and respect observing and admiring them while the gaze back.
I had to make the most out of the last day to play in this area until the monsoons hit and besides still having to go into work later it was an absolutely fantastic day in the woods!
