Our kids were headed to a summer camp in southern Utah where their grandparents live. Grandparents offered to split the difference in travel and agreed to meet us in Cameron for a drop off.

Originally, my wife and I had planned on doing the Sandy's Canyon hike on our way back to Phoenix, but when I saw the strong flow in the LCR at Cameron, we decided to change plans and head over to Grand Falls.

Glad we did.

When it's running, that place is pure liquid dirt. Hiking around the base of the falls ensures you will go home with a souvenir covering of mist-born silt.

Other than various chunks of garbage caught up in the flow, it was a cool sight to behold.

A note on driving directions, based on comments in hike description: We took IR70 on the way in, and IR6910 on the way out. IR70 was washboardy, but actually just fine. We were able to go 40+ mph the whole way in our suburban. Saw plenty of sedans; they probably went a bit slower, but no problem. 6910 was smoother in sections, but also had its share of washboard areas. Either way is fine. Also, the roads are now signed at the junctions, and there is a sign on Leupp Road for the turn off on IR70 to Grand Falls. Navigation was not a challenge.
