First time driving up from I-40 on FR171. I was worried that it would be really muddy, given the amount of rain in the area over several days, but was pleasantly surprised to find no real muddy areas at all. The road was solid--only potholes filled with water, most of which were easy to avoid.

Arrived at the traihead about an hour before dark. Two other cars in the parking area, but their owners arrived back from the cave before we headed in, so we thought we'd have it to ourselves.

We were short on time, so only made it to the big room where the trail forks before turning around. At that point, ran into a couple of other groups coming out for an evening exploration of the cave.

Always a fun place to take folks who had never been there before.
