It's a newer trail, but is featured on their maps and in a guidebook I had with me: Afoot and Afield in the Inland Empire. I was tired from driving all day, and the trail is a bit sandy. I almost turned around sooner than I did. The trail did improve quite a bit once it started going uphill. It had rained recently, which probably made the sand a bit less soft, but it was still pretty soft. Anyway, this trail is sort of boring, if you ask me. I didn't hike the whole thing because it was late in the afternoon.
I didn't have an opportunity to return to the park during my four days in Joshua Tree area because I went there for a WFR class, not for hiking. It was my first trip into the park. So, I guess I will have to go back sometime. Since I found out I have a cousin who owns a climbing school there, I am definitely going back at some point.
