Bagged a new peak today and this one was earned. Of course that hill first thing in the AM gets the blood moving.. quickly. Decided on taking the official route linked in the description which basically follows Bluff Springs trail and then just goes straight up the mountain. There were a few tricky spots that required some climbing over or around, but nothing too challenging, surprisingly because that hill looked intimidating from the main trail. The top area was cool and felt like a completely different hike than I had just been on the past hour and a half. It was very flat and bare compared to the rocky and brushy climb up. Made it to the summit no problem and had a snack while reading the trip logs. Just like everywhere in the Supes, the views were majestic. I started down the very small ridgeline towards the ravine that leads to the Terrapin and got cliffed out twice, as I should have gotten lower and more to the right sooner to avoid the drop offs. The beginning of the decent was kind of sketch because I could not see where were my feet were going through all the grass covering up the boulders, but once the ravine became more distinct it was easier going. Had a nice rest and lunch at a shaded camp spot and then followed the Terrapin back to Bluff Springs trail. Fun trek and cool to get another summit. I really liked the top area of the mountain and would like to venture into the Hidden Valley sometime.
