| no partners | | Rincon Peak had been on my target list for a while, and today was the day to finally do this hike.
This was an out-and-back hike that began and ended at the Miller Creek TH. The dirt road into the TH was in good shape, although there were 5-6 creek crossings with water in them, so I would definitely recommend an high clearance vehicle.
This was one of the more enjoyable hikes that I have done, although it was one of the tougher day hikes that you will do. The trail gets pretty steep the last half mile or so, but the views at the top are worth the effort that it takes to get there.
On the way back we saw a couple of coatimundis, but that was the extent of the wildlife on the trail. On the drive back on the dirt road, we saw several large wild turkeys in a field. The turkeys apparently didn't realize that Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away. |
