Frost was found in the shade and tucked away corners along with rich wet soil.
Stopped just past the Red Hill junction and had lunch on some cool rock outcroppings overlooking the appealing pine forest down below.
Going down was a breeze and the whole experience of hiking on a properly maintained trail was such a pleasure and relief from what I’ve been doing lately.
Made it back to the truck just after dark and didn’t encounter another human all day, just peace and quiet in the Mazzies.
My adventure buddy was recovering from idiopathic vestibular issues aka old dog syndrome (loss or balance/coordination) the past couple weeks so to see her do 5 miles on Saturday and another 13 on this hike like a champ made my heart full
